I actually really love making bready goods from scratch … I should do it way more often π We LOVE BAGELS … but its so hard to find fresh ones in a grocery store here in Austria or Germany. Thats why I thought – Hey, why not make it myself π It is the first time trying them and I am impressed how yummy they turned out!
We love enjoying them with hummus, tomato, avocado or just with maple syrup and a banana on top, if you are a sweet tooth like me π Hope you enjoy baking and let me know how yours turned out or if you have any other tips and recipes for me! π
INGREDIENTS you need:
450g wheat flour
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. salt
2 tbsp olive oil
1 package yeast (about 8-10g)
250ml warm water
All kind of seeds you can find:
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbspflax seeds
2 tbsp sesame seeds
2 tbsp pumpkin seeds
4 tbsp maple syrup
water
Luckily, its pretty easy to make this dough π Start with mixing all dry ingredients, like flour, salt, sugar and yeast. Afterwards add water and olive oil and blend it very well. But a little extra olive oil in the bowl so the dough doesβt dry out or sticks to the bowl. Cover the bowl with a wet kitchen towel and let it rest for about an hour in a warm spot.

Take the dough, which should have been now double the size, and blend it once more. Form little balls and place them on a baking tray. Take a small glass (like a shot glass) and cut out the middle for the whole.

Now, bring water to boil and add the maple syrup. Take the bagels and let them quickly boil for 1 minute on each side. Now the creative part begins π Top your bagels with all kind of seeds you want and place them back on the baking tray.

Bake the bagels at 180 degrees for about 35 minutes or till they are gold brown.
