A healthy alternative to regular brownies with natural ingredients, which you probably have at home, most of the time. I still can’t believe that chickpeas are so diverse, since they can be used for so many different things. I absolutely fell in love with these chocolate chickpea brownies, which taste even better a little frozen!
Baking Time: 15 minutes | 190 degrees oven heat| Preparation: 5-10 minutes
WHAT YOU NEED
- 1 can chickpeas (around 2 cups)
- 200ml apple sauce
- little bit of almond milk
- 3-4 spoons of maple syrup (or any healthy sweetener)
- 2 tablespoon of nut butter or nut oil (if not at home use any other oil)
- 1/2 package of baking powder
- 1/3 cup of whole wheat flour
- 3 table spoon dark cocoa powder
Preheat the oven to 170 degrees (350 Fahreinheit) and lay out the baking form with parchment paper.

Combine all the dry ingredients together till its well mixed and put the bowl aside. Rinse the chickpeas good with water and put them in a blender. Add the almond milk and blend until is nice and creamy. Add all other wet ingredients to it and stir until everything is well mixed. Last step is to mix everything together and fill the baking form with the dough. Make sure the dough in the pan is not too high. I measure like two fingers broad.

Little tip: Don’t overbake the brownies, if you want them nice and fudgy. It is important to let them fully cooled. The best is if you put them in the fridge to cool and the last 10 minutes in the freezer!
Let me know how yours turned out! Have fun baking some healthy treats! 🙂
