We are ready for a relaxing beach vacation – off to the Greek Island Kos, which is one of the Greece’s Dodecanese islands and offers absolutely beautiful beaches, historic ruins and food to die for.
RELAXATION. GOOD FOOD. AND SUNSHINE.
WHAT TO DO IN KOS?
First things first, a dip in the ocean! It was July, beginning of August and it was insanely hot during that time. The water is nice and refreshing, not too warm and not too cold, just the perfect temperature. When we planned our days we made sure to always bring our swimming stuff with us to cool off every couple of hours 🙂
Here are some of the fun activities in Kos:
- Rent a quad for the day and tour around the island to explore other towns and beaches – absolutely worth it!
- Book a day trip with a boat to another island – we went to Kalimnos and had a delicious bbq and unlimited vino on the boat
- Rent a bike and explore all the beaches and bars along the ocean by Kos
- Book a day trip to Bordum in Turkey

WHAT TO EAT IN KOS?
We did not book breakfast with the hotel, since we like to explore nice cafés and brunch spots or just eat something on the beach. During the day we love to grab a small bite and go big at the evenings so to say. 😉
Obviously it contained a lot of Pita bread, tsatsiki, olives and fresh vegetables. Everything here tasted so fresh and looked so colourful.
Here are some MUST EATS when you are in Greece, Kos:
- souvlaki, meat on a stick which gets grilled on the bbq
- gyros = we prefered it when they come wrapped in a bread which is easy to eat on the go – this was hard to find on evenings or dinners, since its more a snack or lunch.
- moussaka = Greek so called “lasagne”
- Greek meze = little small places of everything – great to share 🙂
- lots of fresh, colourful delicious Greek salads
- and all these delicious Mediterranean dips with toasted garlic pita bread
Our favourite PLACES TO EAT:
- Dinner: Canadeza Restaurant, Meze Academy, Kapari Meze
- Lunch/During the day: Sophie’s Restaurant & Beach, Mylos Beach Bar & Restaurant
Here are just a couple of pictures of our favourite foods:

Some of my thousands of food pictures. 😉
It was definitely not our last time in beautiful Greece – I want to explore all the pretty places and try all the yummy food. See you soon Greece! 🙂
